Book Description

8vo. First edition. Pp xvi [ii], 624. A very attractive near contemporary binding of half calf gilt with contrasting spine, marbled boards, and matching marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, edges speckled. Half title present, so that prelims run: half title, engraved frontis, engraved title page, printed title page, dedication, preface, contents, list of plates and unnumbered errata leaf, which has a printed slip pasted on with the errata for pages 97-126. Bookseller label Joseph Pollard, Truro and Penzance to front pastedown. Plates somewhat foxed, as often with this title, but otherwise a very nice item indeed.
