DARWINISM. An exposition of the Theory of Natural selection with some of its applications.

Book Description
FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. 1st printing. 8vo. (7.7 x 5.3 inches). Portrait frontis, folding colour map and thirty seven illustrations and diagrams throughout. Publishers dark green cloth with gilt ruled lines and lettering to the spine. Boards with single blind ruled borders.
Curiously, the title page has London as the lead address but has the US printer, John Wilson and Son, University Press (of Cambridge, Massachusetts), on the verso of the title page, whereas the British edition was printed by R. & R. Clark of Edinburgh. This American edition is very similar to the English edition except the 2pp of adverts at the end of the text are for Macmillan New York's current titles, and the binding spine has fewer gilt ruled lines to the US version. A little minor rubbing to the extremities of the binding but this is a lovely clean and tight copy inside and out. Rare in such fine condition.
