Barry (1802-1855) made the twenty-first ascent of Mont Blanc, and he his original account of the undertaking was published privately. Barry published this second edition of his work in the form of two lectures delivered at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in March 1836. He includes additional material relating to the effects of high altitude on bodily function.
