Double folio. (iv), [1]-[60], (ii), 16 full page black and white engraved plates. All edges red. Bound in marbled boards with gilt decorated spine and marbled endpapers.
Head and tail of spine chipped, the tail missing the lower 1.5 inches. Corners rubbed. Some minor foxing and yellowing to page edges else contents clean and tight. Very good. 	£850.00

                            Volume 8 of his Descriptions des Arts et Métiers. With text detailing the plates, and 16 plates of which four are fashion plates, one of drawings of measurements required, one of a tailor’s work room and equipment, and eleven of patterns for both men and women. The pattern drafts were subsequently borrowed by Diderot  in 1776-1777 for the supplement to his Encyclopedia.
