Dear Constance, I am so very sad to think I shant see you again before you go back to your country of scarlet creepers & apes & wonderful smells. Also I should so have loved to see your baby (what is her name? and are you taking her back with you?). Alas I am here in Scotland till the end of the month partly because Father wants to come up again for another fortnight after his Cabinet on the 14th & partly also because our house at Downing Street is topsy-turvey & quite impossible to live in all the electric light having been dangerously wrong ever since we've lived here!
