Dealer Notes
“This celebrated picture of Bonaparte, on which so much praise has been lavished in Paris, is now arrived in London... it being considered as the chef-d’oeuvre of the present great school of portrait painting in Paris.” Lefevre painted a number of portraits of Napoleon, the most likely candidate is the one now in the Wellington Collection at Apsley House, dated to 1812. The reverse of the handbill has an advert for a letting agency and an advert for an early form of employment agency for servants.
Author (NAPOLEON).
