Spence 1255; Renard 1691; Rosove 1343. Whitehouse met Nansen in 1928 when he accompanied a party of school-children to Norway to present him with a model of his "Farthest North" expedition. As Parliamentary Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer he had also, in 1914, had some dealings with Shackleton, who was then asking for Government assistance with the Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Shackleton's piece "Adventure" originally appeared in a Boys' League magazine in 1914.
