Book Description

Limited Edition, No. 7 of 220 copies. 22 x 29.5 cm green pictorial paper boards with black stamped titles to the front and spine. Uncut hand-made paper, unpaginated, [28]pp consisting of 26 poems each title beginning with a different letter of the alphabet and with 11 lino-cut illustrations, including 5 full page 2 colour prints by Sheila M Thompson. The book comes with the remains of its original clear film dust jacket. The book is signed and inscribed by Farjeon to her sister Violetta using her family nick name, ‘Nellie’. A beautiful copy with just a hint of rubbing to the corners. Internally there is a spot of uniform toning to the free endpapers but otherwise the book is clean and bright. The dust jacket although present is only 2/3 complete with significant losses. It is now protected by a clear removable plastic cover. A scarce signed association copy. A fabulous evocation of a gentler world, published just before the start World War II.
