A Shropshire Lad, A.E. Housman, Grant Richards, 1908, First Illustrated Edition A collection of 63 poems where all but eight of them have been set to music and eleven of them in ten or more settings. The book is illustrated throughout with eight colour illustrations of Shropshire by William Hyde. All are present and protected by fully intact tissue sheets. There is neat personal dedication and date to the first free page. The book is in near fine condition. The superb binding is straight and tight, the boards clean apart for a small mark to the front board and the lettering on the darkened spine bright. There is some bubbling to the back board. The fore and bottom edges are rough cut with the top edge being smooth with the original gold tint. The end papers and pages are free from marks and tears and inscriptions. There is a small booksellers sticker to the rear of the front board. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
