Book Description

A photograph album with fifty-one photographs, the majority corner-mounted on 7 leaves, captioned by hand to leaves, one image missing (passport photograph), a further photograph loosely inserted; in very good condition, contained in a contemporary album with paper-boards, minor wear to upper margin of front board.

Dealer Notes

These photographs document the life of a couple in the United Kingdom - on holiday at Ullapool (5 images, June 1947), visiting parents in East Kilbride (10 images, July-August 1947), and at home in Northolt, Middlesex (8 images, August-October 1947), before they head to Iran. Most of the images show them at home in staff quarters in Abadan (22 images January 1948 and April 1949), though six photographs record their “Launch Trip to Fao 23/1/48”, the images showing them aboard a small boat. Six photographs were taken on a Persian Gulf “Cruise on “Dumra” March 1949 Abadan, Kuweit, Bahrein, Karachi, Bombay & back” - including an image of “The Quoins”.
