Richard Ellmann (1918-87), American literary critic and biographer of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde and W. B. Yeats. A Mine of Serpents is the sequel to The Military Orchid and the second part of ‘The Orchid Trilogy’ which was completed with The Goose Cathedral in 1950. An excellent association copy in the very attractive jacket.
