Dealer Notes
Theakstone pp. 35-6. The traveller Isabella Bird (later Bishop, her married name) visited the Rocky Mountains in 1873, basing her book on the letters she wrote home to her sister. They include a description of her ascent of Long’s Peak with her guide, ‘Mountain Jim’. First published in 1879, this seventh edition was issued in Murray’s Shilling Library, and this copy retains its original dust-wrapper, a rare survival. It carries a list of other titles in the Library on the rear cover.
