The Chartwell Illustrated Edition or sometimes referred to as the Deluxe Edition was published near simultaneously with the jacketed Cassell edition in 1956 but in a larger format, on superior paper and elegant binding.
In incredible condition for a publication from 70 years ago but describing as new would not be inaccurate, there is hardly a flaw. The binding is perfectly tight and straight, the boards pristine with a slight scuff to the front of volume 2, the edges completely devoid of foxing with the top edge fully retaining the blue tint and the endpapers and pages are clean without any marks or creases.
