A monumental work often regarded as Churchill's finest, it is a four-volume history of Britain and its former colonies dating from Caesar's invasions of Britain (55 BC) to the end of the Second Boer War (1902).
All four volumes are First Editions, First Impressions with dust jackets protected in a clear, removable covers.
Volume I - The Birth of Britain - 1956
In very good condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is minimal shelf wear to the bottom edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks and tears. The original red tint to the top edge is largely retained.
The clipped dust jacket is in good condition with tears to the top of the spine and top and base of the front cover. Some darkening to the top of the rear.
Volume II - The New World - 1956
In very good condition the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from marks and tears save a stain to the base of the fore edge. The top edge largely retains its original red tint.
The unclipped dust jacket is in good condition with loss to the top of the front and rear covers and loss to the base of the spine,
Volume III - The Age of Revolution - 1957
In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from tears. The top edge largely retains its original red tint.
The unclipped dust jacket is in near fine condition without issue.
Volume IV - The Great Democracies - 1958
In very good condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from tears. The top edge retains its original red tint.
The unclipped dust jacket is in very good condition with nicks and wear to top and bottom of the spine and some darkening of the spine.
A super set of a masterpiece of historical writing.
Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
