This piece was Printed and Sold by W. Belch of No1. Staverton Row, Newington Butts, of London and J. Phelps of Paternoster Row
The upper illustration depicts "The Prophecy of Isaiah," specifically illustrating the "Peaceable Kingdom" prophecy (Isaiah 11:6-9), where the wolf dwells with the lamb, the leopard with the kid, and a child leads them.
These types of prints were common educational ephemera, used in schools to teach both moral/religious lessons and calligraphy. The blank area in the centre was intended to be filled with the student's own writing exercise.
In this case the centre has been filled with a Handwritten piece titled “On Winter” by a student named Thomas Briggs who was aged 10 the time, which he wrote in December 1824
The hand-coloured sheet measures 18.5 inches by 14.5 inches approx..
