York Antiquarian Book Seminar (YABS)
The York Antiquarian Book Seminar (YABS) is an annual three day seminar usually held around the time of our York National Book Fair. The seminar is designed for people of all levels of expertise, from beginners to those with years of experience who want to hone their skills in this rapidly changing field. Read below to find out more.

The PBFA are sponsoring two scholarships at YABS 2023, for the course fees, worth £525 each. The fees cover three days of lectures, all instructional materials, lunches, refreshments, and Thursday farewell dinner.
The applicants for the PBFA scholarships may either be current PBFA members, or would-be PBFA members who potentially fulfil the requirements for PBFA membership. If you know an aspiring bookseller for whom the course would provide a kick-start into the profession please let them know.
The seminar is designed for people of all levels of expertise, from beginners to those with years of experience. Lectures and subjects covered include: selling to institutional libraries, cataloguing ephemera, selling books on consignment, avoiding fakes and forgeries, creating your own website, book photography, databases and running an open shop.
