We’ve launched our 2025 competition!

test
We celebrated our 50th anniversary last year by celebrating YOU – the Great British Book Collector. We launched the UK’s only ‘open to all’ competition to find the PBFA Young Book Collector of the Year. It was such a success that this year there are TWO prizes.

You can read all about last year’s winners here on our blog, but now it’s your turn! Over the last 50 years the PBFA has helped thousands of enthusiasts like you build up collections on every topic under the sun. We love seeing them, so please tell us about yours – and you could win £250.

Here’s how:
*There are two age categories: Under 16, and 16–30.
* You must have at least 12 books in your collection with a unifying theme.
* The competition is open to anyone resident in the UK, aged under 30 on 31st December 2025.
* The closing date for entries is 30th November 2025.
* The two prizes, of £250 each, will be awarded at the York Book Fair on Saturday 10th January 2026.

Now all you have to do is tell us about your collection and send us a few photographs. Please limit your entry to 500 words - about two sides of A4.
You might like to consider:
Why, and when, did you start collecting?
What is the theme of your collection?
What inspired you to start this collection?
Where do you find items for your collection?
How do you decide what to include in your collection?
What will happen to the collection in the future?

It might help to read last year’s winning entries on our blog here.

Two last points: If you would like to know more about books and book collecting, please ask any of our members at a book fair. Finally, please remember that we are looking for the most interesting book collection, not the biggest or most valuable.

Please send your entry as a PDF document to info@pbfa.org.

Good luck!
