Book Description
ANON. Wonders of the Waters. First edition. iv, 32, 32, 32, 32, 32pp., decorative title-page and woodcut text illustrations. Each section, except the first, has a special title-page dated 1842. A very good copy in original blind and gilt stamped brown cloth, lemon yellow end-papers, all-edges-gilt. Some rubbing, and the owner, Mary Field, has loosely inserted some plant leaves and petals which have left some slight offsetting onto the page. Inscribed “Mary Field, the gift of her Uncle, James Atkins, 1848.”
12mo. [Printed by S. & J. Bentley, Wilson, and Fley, Bangor House, Shoe Lane]. Religious Tract Society. [1842].
~ It includes sections on: The animalcule -- The coral-maker -- The sea-star -- The lobster -- The fish. This is a different work from that published under the same title in 1878.
