Book Description
Later issue (with 1889 to title page). 8vo, pp. [vi, incl. ffep half-title], 315, [3 catalogue, incl. rear fep], charmingly illustrated by A. Frederics. Original blue-green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, upper board lettered and blocked in black. Extremities gently rubbed and bruised, cloth grubby and discoloured, light splash marks to upper board. Endpapers toned, POI in pencil to half-title, blue Thomas Watson Bookseller, Leeds ticket to rear pastedown, else, pleasingly clean and bright. A later issue post-1901, indicated by front pastedown showing 19 titles, headed ‘Price Six Shillings Each.’ Also features 2-page catalogue to rear, headed ‘Arrowsmith’s 3/6 Series’ and listing 42 titles, plus further catalogue to rear pastedown, headed ‘Books for Children,’ listing 4 titles, plus another 6 titles on final page. Rodgers and Read. A very good copy of Jerome’s immensely popular comic novel.
