Book Description

The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley, the text specially prepared by Kathleen Lines (Victor Gollancz Ltd, first published 1961). Hardback in dustwrapper. Illustration in gilt to front board. pp 222, [2] blank, including b/w illustrations, illustrated endpapers. Size: 8.75 x 6.25 inches approx. (220mm x 157mm). Light wear and rubbing to dustwrapper, mainly to extremities; a short tear and creasing to top edge of rear panel; a little sunned/faded to spine; age-toning to flap folds and top edge; some blotchiness/tidemarks to spine though mostly only visible to verso. Covers clean and bright; spine ends a touch bruised, square corners to boards. A previous owner’s inscription in ink to half-title page; edges of page-block toned and spotted but pages generally very clean throughout. Overall, light wear but otherwise a nicely preserved copy – quite lovely.
