Book Description

A copy of a very scarce beast! The first book in Rev. Awdry's ever-popular Thomas The Tank series of books was entitled 'The Three Railway Engines' (preceding 'Thomas The Tank Engine' by a year). Published by Edmund Ward in 1945, this book is now very difficult to find in its first edition state, with illustrations by William Middleton (who only lasted for this single book in the series). This copy is in good condition, with original cream boards with green lined border and title to front board. Looks to have been carefully re-bound at some stage (with new cream end papers?). Internally very good, with just light creasing - although one leaf has worked loose. No edition markings or mention of any other book in the series, as called for. Scarce in any state - and this one presents very well...
