Published by Leonard Smithers, London, 1896, 1st editions. Two volumes in matching blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine and front board. Image on front boards, recreates the Aubrey Beardsley design for the title page of issue one. Each 10.5ins x 8.25ins. Volume one contains issues 1 & 2. 170pp, 206pp, reproductions of the two front covers on white paper and the original covers on pink paper. Volume two contains issues 3, 4 & 5 110p, 100pp, 92pp and the original covers on blue paper. Nb the publication ran for 8 issues before folding at the end of 1896. Apart from Aubrey Beardsley (who features frequently) other artists include Max Beerbohm, C.H. Shannon, W. Rothenstein, Joseph Pennell, Walter Sickert and William Blake. Literary contributors include Arthur Symons, Ernest Dowson, W.B. Yeats, Ford Maddox Hueffer, Havelock Ellis, G. Bernard Shaw and Max Beerbohm. All illustrations present as listed. Lacks (as is often the case) the tipped-in Christmas card from volume one. Small loss of cloth to top rear corner of volume one. A little discolouration to the endpapers, but generally a VG set.
