Book Description

Fourth edition (c.1900). 208x160mm. Unpaginated. Title page, 48 ll (printed on recto only) 54pp publishers’ advertisements and one sheet of order forms, 4 of 6 remaining. Bound in brown textured cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt, black and blind. Slight bumping to extremities but overall in very good condition. Internally there is some cracking to the hinges which have been strengthened in two places with card but overall in very good condition with the coloured and decorated printed pages for the badges very clean. 156 crests, seals, badges and monograms have been pasted in and 27 leaves have nothing at all on them. In late Victorian England, collecting crests and badges and pasting them into attractively printed albums made for the purpose was a popular hobby. This is a nice example of a crest book.
