Book Description
Printed by A. Hamilton, London and sold by R.Dodsley, T.Cadell, G.Robinson, R. Faulder and G. Nicol, 1781, 1st edition. Half leather binding with marbled boards. Five raised bands to spine. Gilt lettering to spine and horizontal gilt lines beside raised bands. Aem. 12ins x 9.75ins, marbled endpapers, xi, (i), 274pp plus large coloured folding map and 30 plates of which 12 are double-page size. Also title page vignette and 7 other (chapter ending) vignettes. The spine and corners are a later (professional) replacement. The boards look to be original and are rather rubbed. Some offsetting to text pages facing plates and a little browning to edge of pages, but generally a VG copy.
