Publisher’s decorated cloth with embossed spine, original end papers present, partly unopened, publisher’s catalogue to rear. Sir John Lubbock’s signature to half title dated August 1868. Very slight foxing but overall, in very good firm condition.

A very nice association copy. Sir John Lubbock was one of the leading intellectuals of the 19th century who entered into a dispute in particular with Charles Lyell – Lubbock accused Lyell of planarization. This dispute dragged on among scientific circles for much of this period. Post free.
