Book Description

London: The Hogarth Press, 1950. First edition, first printing. This is a very near fine copy. The Vanessa Bell dust wrapper has only slight spots to note, which are very faint and sparse indeed. It has not been price clipped (10s. 6d. net). Internally, the book is equally immaculate, bearing the vending sticker of B. H. Blackwell to the front pastedown. There are no inscriptions. The text blocks are bright, white and free from foxing, and the topstain is not blemished. The boards are sharp and free from wear. Overall, this is a very near fine copy and strikingly so for this title. Published posthumously and containing an Editorial Note by the author's husband, Leonard Woolf, the twenty-five short essays contained demonstrate the beauty of style, wit and the sensibility of she who wrote them.
