Hardback. 114pp. Signed, first edition. Signed by Phyllis Bentley to the title page and dated 1947. History and assessment of the Brontë family by Yorkshire novelist Phyllis Bentley. Dust jacket drawing by Felix Kelly. Cream cloth with printed label to the upper board and brown title to the spine is slightly darkened to the spine else very clean and neat. Free front endpaper has been removed and there has been an old mend with tape which has browned. This has been replaced with proper bookbinders tape which will not brown but the old stain is still slightly visible. The dust jacket is slightly surface scuffed and slightly faded and has long tear to one side of the jacket spine. The dust jacket spine has some faint water marks and uneven tanning; there is some dustiness to the white back panel. Binding is sound. Text is clean.
