Book Description
The very scarce dustwrapper has done its job well resulting in a clean , freash copy of the book in publishers scarlet cloth with attractive gilt decorations and titles on the spine & upper board. Rear board has a 'blind-stamped' small version of the front board artwork which is repeated on the front of the dustwrapper. The top edge of the page block is gilt and the side and lower edges remain untrimmed.

FIRST EDITION. 1903. Maria Edgeworth was an Anglo Irish writer and her work is sought after and collected. Hugh Thomson was a prolific illustrator of the time especially books in this series or by this publisher although this one is slightly larger than some examples in this series at approx 8.25" x 6.25".
