This is a fantastic piece of West Midlands Social History, being the Original “Criminal Occurrence Book” kept by Oldbury Police Station containing a handwritten record of all the Crimes centred on the area of Oldbury, the names and addresses of the offenders are all recorded with details of their crimes committed, many of the criminals originating from the surrounding area including Round’s Green, Warley, Langley, Dudley, West Bromwich, Birmingham, Langley Green, and as far away as Sheffield, as well as detailed records of the offences, also includes accounts of the following police investigations and records of the sentencing, kept between the years 1910 to 1917, in a large format leather bound ledger, all the handwriting throughout the book in several hands is very neat and legible, recording crimes such as Murder, Larceny, Wounding, Theft of Coal from Canal barges, the Stealing of tools, Attempted Suicides, Habitual Drunkenness, Embezzlement, Rioting, False Pretences, indecent assault, Attempted Murder, theft of Wood, Iron, Food, Clothing, Shopbreaking, theft of a Birdcage, Housebreaking, incest, Rape, Grievous Bodily Harm, theft by Servants, Fraud by Agents, Unlawful Wounding, Manslaughter, Burglary, Wilful Murder of an Infant, Arson, Counting House Breaking, stealing vegetables, theft of a shilling piece, and much more, the book is fully indexed at the front, each case is numbered and easy to find, the book runs to just short of three hundred used pages, binding rubbed and worn but in good solid condition, contents in good condition.
