Folio, 6 leaves, etched frontispiece by Treccani signed in pencil, title page in blue and black, colophon on leaf 5r with printer’s mark in blue, on heavy, handmade paper watermarked with a cat from the printer’s mark, contained in the original publisher’s potfolio of blue cloth, fine.
Dealer Notes
A fine, private press, edition of Dylan Thomas’s well-known Poem in October, translated into Italian, chosen becuse of Franco Riva’s high regard for Thomas’s work. Riva was a librarian and writer on book history in Verona, who in some ten years from 1954 also produced many finely printed volumes on his private press. When his friend Giovanni Mardesteig was asked to contribute to a new edition of “Il Libro Italiano 1800-1965” he declined, but suggested Franco Riva.
