Extra leaf preceding title page, contains illustrated b/w vignette and quote by Napoleon Bonaparte on town of Elbeuf. Includes TWO FOLD-OUT ILLUSTRATED MECHANICAL PLANS. Richly illustrated throughout, contains OVER 700 WEAVING PATTERNS, COMPRISED OF THOUSANDS OF HAND-COLORED SQUARES in red, black, and blue. Also contains numerous b/w lithographs. Title translates to New Theoretical and Practical Treatise on the Manufacture of New Fabrics, Divided into Three Parts. The book contains practical instruction on the manufacture of fabrics and textiles, including recipes for dye and mechanical plans for looms and other necessary machinery. A truly stunning example of craftsmanship, in terms of both content and binding. Rare. A few minor spots here and there, with pages generally very clean. Overall very good condition.
