Enlisted Aug. 1914 appointed to Royal Flying Corps as motorcyclist at Farnborough then No. 1 Squadron, Brooklands. Gave lectures to troops promoted to Sergeant served in France Mar 1915-Jan 1916. Appointed temp. Sergeant Major served in France Dec 1916-Aug 1917. Appointed temp. 2nd Lieutenant Aug 1917 working at Regents Park Stores. Left RAF Apr. 1919 as acting Captain.
