Book Description

The period of history during the Regency of Queen Marie de Medici from 1605 until the death of Louis XIII in 1643. Richer, the founding editor, said the intention was to gather together the important news from the four corners of the world. The first edition was published in 1611 and it appears there was a retrospective catch-up from 1605. The present volume covers the period 1610 - 1612, the much shorter text for 1610 suggesting catch-up again. The main title page and some prelims are lacking, the first leaves are part of the index for 1610, index for 1611 and 1612 are complete, some minor spotting and staining and some creased pages, vellum (yapp edge) marked with use, spine grubby, text block mostly firm, leaves browned though very legible and the volume easy to read. Copac and Worldcat mainly report the very few institutions holding the mostly complete set of some 24 -26 volumes. La bibliotheque national events de France holds a similar copy referenced years 1610 - 1612
