Book Description

The First UK printing of the Trade edition published by The Phaidon Press, London in 2019 (There was also a limited edition of 100 copies bound in different coloured boards with a loose signed print inserted issued simultaneously with the trade edition). The BOOK is in Fine condition and has only been removed from its shinkwrap and opened to check condition. The book has been signed in felt pen by Harland Miller(without dedication) to the front white endpaper. Publisher's 'signed copy' sticker to the front upper cover. Loosely inserted is the publisher's one sheet blurb and the original owner's invoice from the publishers for the purchase of this copy. This invoice states that the book is a 'signed' copy. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. The books still housed in its original cardboard packaging with the publisher's details on the postage details. The Publisher's blurb : 'The most comprehensive monograph to date on the British artist and writer loved for his witty book-cover-inspired canvases Harland Miller's creativity as both artist and novelist culminates in his iconic paintings of battered book covers with cleverly invented titles. Initially appropriating the classic Penguin paperback before devising his own unique designs, Miller combines aspects of pop art, abstraction, and figurative painting to create highly coveted artworks that have won him a cult following. This monograph covers nearly 20 years of his paintings, and features newly commissioned essays by eminent art writers exploring different aspects of his practice'. I am unsure of the how many copies of the trade edition were signed by Harland Miller. The number was likely to be low and all such copies were sold out before the publication date. A highly collectible title with such attributes
