A relatively poor copy of Iona and Peter Opie's first book 'I Saw Esau', published in 1947. Here they first begin to document the traditional rhymes and ditties of the playground, 'presenting here a portrait which is unique'. The book lacks its dust wrapper and has seriously marked boards. Internally better, with owner name to ffep (and same person, possibly, added their own rhymes to a blank page at the end of the book in pencil). An important book, even like this...
