Frank Sutcliffe was a towering figure in 19th century photography & he set himself apart from the mainstream photography of his day by portraying everyday life in the countryside & urban settings around him and in particular his beloved Whitby.
Although he rarely strayed far from his home town his work has been celebrated & exhibited around the world.
