La Pia leggenda romantica is verse novella that Gaetano Donizetti used as the basis of his opera Pia de' Tolomei in 1837. Elza is a prose novella and is very hard to find. Both with what appear to be introductions. Text in Italian. Bound in full red leather with raise bands to spine, black leather label and gilt titles and gilt decorations also to the spine. the boards have gilt ruled borders with a blind impressed inner border. Marbled endpapers. Marbled to all page edges. Ribbon bookmark. Leather is rubbed and a little faded but this is fairly minor. Internal occasional age toning to the pages and occasional minor mark to the margins. Binding is sound.
