Bourne's famous series of lithographs of the London and Birmingham railway was first published in 1839, one year after the line was opened. Its 37 plates illustrated, in extraordinary detail, how an early railway in all its aspects really looked". Text by John Britton. Dw has two very short closed tears and is rubbed to base of spine.
