Book Description

BUCKLAND SCHOOL REWARD TRACTS A collection of seventeen titles, all in their original printed wrappers. Ten are unrecorded on Jisc, and four recorded in just a single copy. They nearly all reveal their Buckland School provenance from the 1850's and 1860's, and several bear the name of children from the local Perham family. The original school at Buckland St Mary was erected in 1851 at the expense of the local rector, Rev. E.J. Lance. The Perham’s were an established local family in Buckland St Mary, and In the 1851 census Martha (age 5, School) is recorded as the daughter of John Perham at Colly Farm, Buckland St Mary, Chard, Somerset. These tracts are more often found disbound from volumes, and to have them all with their original wrappers is quite uncommon. the collection: £395.00 The Bunch of Violets. 18pp., woodcut.
