CONSTRUCTION GAME Cardcastles. France, c. 1820.
A fine and unusual construction game consisting of 44 thin card pieces, engraved and hand coloured which can be assembled to form seven buildings: a large pagoda, a summerhouse upon a rock, [two pagodas with a bridge between], a castle, a summerhouse erected on a bridge, a gallerie with two small summerhouses, a castle. In the original paper covered box, lid warped, 210 x 140 mm. printed label browned. Together with the accompanying booklet with an introduction and illustrations of the various designs, in original plain green wrappers.
Dealer Notes
Although the introduction and captions in the booklet are in English, the printed titles identifying some of the parts are in French suggesting that this might be a French game with alterations for the English market.
