Book Description

bound in grey cloth-covered boards with a pasted-on sketch of the fountain, Trinity College to the front cover (which is repeated on the title page). First published in 1913 this facsimile edition contains fifteen enchanting b/w. sketches of familiar Cambridge scenes. Found in the publisher’s archives, the Black's Sketchbooks are a series of books produced in the early 20th century by a group of well-known artists. Each book contains sketches of iconic English and Scottish cities and counties. There are also books on famous Continental cities such as Paris and Venice. The result is a charming series of books that present a fascinating look at British and European locations as they were almost a century ago. This title presents a delightful view of Cambridge as it was in 1913.
