This is a nice lot, containing a fascinating and important manuscript book kept by No 5179 Sergeant Epps, of The 3rd Rifle Brigade, while he was at the Aldershot School of Cookery, doing his training to be an army cook in 1907
this hardback book runs to 176 fully used pages, with notes on lectures he attended, numerous recipes, sections with original photographs on field ovens, including The Aldershot Oven, with a full index to contents at the front of the book
The book is just over 12 inches tall.

Also accompanying this is his Pocket Ledger book containing numerous certificates, his army account book, his Savings Bank Account, records of his musketry classification, next of kin, his Will, record of service abroad, and record of promotions, and other loosely inserted ephemera, the Ledge book starts in 1896, and contains pieces dated up to 1920.
