An Abridgement of Ecclesiastical History from the Commencement of Christianity, to the Beginning of the Present Century; Constructed upon a New Plan, and Divided into Four Grand Periods
Book Description
Nisbet divides the duration of the world from the Creation to the appearance of Jesus Christ into six ages and a period he calculated of some four thousand years. During his analysis of the development of scripture, Nisbet asserts that the 'oral tradition' was an open goal to use to add to the scripture as delivered by Moses in the written word. He cites the Pharisees, the Saducees and the Essenes of having added 'oral culture' to the teaching of Moses.
