                        First edition. Text French. Achille Raffray (1844-1923), a French diplomat and entomologist. He led a mission to East Africa from 1873 to 1875, on behalf of the French Ministry of Education. Traveling with the Consul de Sarzec, he explored Lake Tana, and visited the Abyssinian city of Gondar, and the towns, lalibala and Adwa. During the expedition he encountered Yohannes IV Emperor of Abyssinia.
