FIRST EDITIONS. 1st impressions. Four Volumes. Complete. 8vo. (9.3 x 6.3 inches). A very bright and clean set, which has been finely bound in late twentieth century half navy blue morocco by Bayntun of Bath. Spines with raised bands, each with gilt wavy line decoration. Compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Light blue cloth with single gilt ruled border of the leather on the boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. The spines are sun faded, but the gilt still bright and gleaming, and the rear board of volume one has a small patch of fading to the top inner corner where it was shelved next to a smaller book. Overall a near fine set of First editions of Churchill's last major historical work.
