Lawford, London 1834; bound in full brown calf leather with marbled covers, 5 raised bands and ornate design between each raised band, and a dark red leather piece with the title embossed onto it; large quarto, xiipps + 102pps, 24 plates of ‘sections of the strata’ + 87 coloured plates + 15 coloured plates, all with a tissue cover, of geological formations; at front of book is a large folding map of Ashby (there is a little damage to top right of map); there are a number of gate folds in book and other maps; There is a book-plate of ‘Masterton Public Library’ on inside front cover. 4 corners of book are bruised, especially the bottom 2 corners, and a few marks on the covers, also it looks as if the front end page has been removed; there is some foxing on various pages and maps etc, the front inside hinge appears a little weak from the inside of the book, otherwise book is tight in the binding and in good condition. Book weighs 2.7kg Scarce
