The essays have been taken from periodicals, hence variations in the font; page numbers do not run sequentially from one piece to the next. Throughout, are neatly pencilled dates (month and year) by the title of each piece. Some very minor marking to boards; repairs to a couple of page edges and a dried water stain on some pages towards the rear of Essays, auf Deutsch / in German, printed in blackletter, top edges are gilt.
