Book Description
The First UK Printing published by Fourth Estate in 2009. The BOOK is in near FINE condition. It appears unread with the binding remaining tight. The book is free from inscriptions and erasures. A small bump to the upper spine and a hint of toning and light spotting to the upper text block. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been SIGNED by Hilary Mantel to the title page. The ticket for the signing event accompanies this title as provenance. The signing event took place after the presentation of the Oxford Library Bodley Medal to Hilary Mantel. The Bodley Medal is awarded by the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the worlds in which the Bodleian is active: literature, culture, science, and communication. Previous recipients of the Bodley Medal have been Peter Carey, Richard Attenborough, author PD James and inventor of the world wide web Sir Tim Berners-Lee. A Booker Prize Winning title and extremely scarce to find as a first UK printing now, let alone signed. Adapted to high acclaim for the TV and also by the Royal Shakespeare Company. A sharp copy.
