Book Description
Oblong, 27 x 19cm, 24ff. (all used). Original half pink cloth & marbled paper covered boards (upper joint cloth splitting at head; some wear to endcaps & corners). An interesting album, mostly captioned with place and date, of c.75 original photographs. Of note is a series of twelve photos featuring the meeting of the Scottish Soldier and instructor to the Moroccan Army, Sir Harry Aubrey De Vere with the Moroccan Minister for War meeting in the Mediterranean onboard H.M.S. Diadam and Sir Harry playing his bagpipes. Other photographs feature life on board H.M.S. Diadam; a naval exercise including H.M.S. Arrogant & Latona; in the English Channel and off the Scillies; a series of Quebec (six photos); at home in Whitley Surrey; five photos of New Zealand. Last 6ff of concluding leaves without inscriptions and include three portrait, three of an extensive forest fire in a substantial landscape (Canada?), postcards of Audley End House (Essex), Butleigh Court House (Somerset), Houston House (Refrewshire) plus several others of County Clare, Ireland. A good copy (light adhesive marks around photos from mounting and light toning to paper; light misting to six photographs). [Ref: 2477]
