Book Description

Parian bust Height 13.5 ix 8.75 inches wide.
Dealer Notes
A very attractive rendering of the ‘Chandos’ Shakespeare portrait by the Victorian sculptor Rafaelle Monti. Parian is a type of fine-grained hard paste manufactured from the 1840’s onward, which derives its name from the fine marble found on the Greek island of Paros, believed to be the best sculptural marble available. The finest examples of ‘Statuary Porcelain’ were produced by the world famous firms of Minton and Copeland. This Copeland piece is a particularly good example, in fine condition, with a smooth and very white texture .
